Thank you to No Exit Press, Bedford Square Publishers for sending me a physical copy to read and review. Thank you to Random Things Tours for adding me to the Blog Tour. Please see below for the other bloggers and tour dates.
For non-blog tours I don’t like to give too much away and I don’t show blurbs all the back of the book for a blog tour I feel my duty to share us please scroll on this next bit if you prefer to not read the blurb.
As a neurodivergent reader, my reviews start off with sensory aspects. The hardback cover to The Intrusion is a smooth matte finishing. The cover has a foreboding sky which is above a house out in countryside. There is also the back of girl possibly young woman running through a cornfield towards the house.
The title of a book is at the top in red capitals and the authors name is at the bottom in white capitals. The spine of the book is the same as the front regarding the title and the authors name.
The back cover has the title in red capitals and quite a chunk of blurb along with a couple of quoted recommendations. The jacket fits tight to black hardback.
Underneath the jacket, I love the title and all his name is in silver foil down the spine. The inside front cover on the jacket has information about what The Intrusion is about information here is different to the back cover.
I like this is so many books just repeat what is on in the back as a rule I don’t read the blurb all the back covers has to give me too much and I find it does spoil it for me as a blog tour you I will always feel is my duty to read this part, the back inside cover has a photo of your Charlotte Langley and short pages.
The text is central and set to Garamond MT Pro by Palimpsest Book Production Limited. As well as chapters The Intrusion in broken up in to parts.
The Intrusion starts off by throwing the reader straight into the action and into a police case with a dead body and a suspect. The Intrusion is a sequel to Langley’s previous book The Blame.
In The Intrusion there are, of course, some of the same characters such as the main detective and other police officers. They are joined by a host of new characters.
I was gripped by this exciting thriller, reading it in one evening. I feel nothing here is really too far fetched, and yes of course this is a novel and written for and with dramatic and entertaining effect, which it certainly does with such a well written narrative.
The Intrusion is a great read if you are looking for strong female characters, having said that I did not feel it was dominated by females just that they kick ass here.
I am a fan of thrillers and I read many other genres I’m not so much of fun of police or detective series. I think I would enjoy more police/detective books of they were written as well as this. I can safely say that Langley had me hooked.
I’m excited to see what comes next but The Intrusion by Charlotte Langley is out now.
