The Dream Home by T.M. Logan
T.M. Logan's 8th novel; 432 pages; Published by Zaffre - 29/02/24; 16.2 x 3.8 x 24 cm
I was so excited for this and rightly so as it most certainly lived up to expectations.
I was lucky to get my hands on a pre-release (not proof copy) just a week before publication date. please see my blog post on the wonderful evening I had meeting TM Logan in London. If you are a fan of TM Logan, and are yet to read the Dream Home, then you are in the right place to enter my competition, once I reach 100 free subscribers I’ll be giving away a signed copy of TM Logan’s The Dream Home with goody bag. Thank you to TM Logan Zaffre and all involved.
Let’s start with the cover, I personally find this a little busy. However the title and authors name are clear enough even with the blurred effect, which I am personally not a fan of that from a sensory point of view.
It is similar design to TM Logan’s previous book covers with its dark sky, and foreboding look. The blurred title is also a regular feature. Being a hardback I always look for hidden treasures (fitting with a narrative here without plot spoiler) so I like to have a quick peek to see if we are gifted with anything here. Not on this occasion.
Underneath the jacket we have just a black hard back but nice that the spine has the title and authors name pretty in silver. The jacket does fit nice to book here with very little room to slip. I was happy to read, keeping the jacket on the book.
The pages are soft - no paper cut warnings needed and the text, I found good layout and good page breaks and end of chapters. As well as chapters, this book is broken up into parts which I find good markers to stop or pause at if you need to read over a few sessions. Also this helps give you the chance to digest what you’ve read.
The whole story flows very well with quite a fast pace that makes you want to read on. I must admit I’ve been putting a lot of my thrillers on a long to be read pile, as they have been feeling rather repetitive of late but something about TM Logan makes me want to read what he has brought to the table immediately as I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by this author.
There are many twist and turns here and nothing is too obvious. I always enjoyed TM Logan’s attention to detail for domestic situations. I love how he gets in these details of what family life is about, from what the children are eating, to what the family pet is up to, to real relatable daily life situations like the school run.
I never find TM Logan books too far fetched and I can totally buy into these events playing out in real life which of course does lend themselves for TV and film. I found the story perfectly plotted fast pace full of tension, and as it says on the cover an up-all-night thriller, which it most certainly was.
TM Logan is working on his next book so hopefully this time next year I shall be back again, another five star blog review.
