Storm Child by Ele Fountain
Reading age: 9 - 12 years; 256 pages; Published by Pushkin Press - 4th July, 2024
I have never been a surfer mainly due to my fear of the sea however I am attracted to this book with summery vibes.
I am sure a lot of children would be attracted to it especially for those fortunate to go on holiday and very much so if they enjoy surfing. My 13 year old autistic child, who is also not a fan of water sports, said she is attracted to this book and said it looks ‘cool’ and she would like to read it once we broke up for school summer holidays.
This is great news as she has only ever really read graphic novels for the past few years. I love the narrative and I love the many themes this book explores especially the environmental and family relationships.
I feel the book is very user/reader friendly as a neurodivergent reader. I found the authors writing style and the syntax made it a very easy and enjoyable read.
I am very grateful to be included in this book blog tour, it is great to be reading children’s books that are in the current market as I am about to cover children’s literature on my degree course.
Ele Fountain is a new author to me, and I would certainly like to read more of her work. I hope Storm Child makes its way to school and public libraries.
Thank you Pushkin Children’s Books for sending me a proof to read and review and be part of the Blog Tour.
