I always know I can trust Lisa Jewell to provide me with an exciting up-to-date thriller. Picking up a Lisa Jewell feels like putting on a comfy pair or slippers. I bought this on the day it was out as often cheaper on release date and I’m always excited for new Lisa Jewell.
I did feel a little bad that I wasn’t going to read it immediately as usually for me, Lisa Jewell jumps ahead of my huge to-be-read piles. Had I been off travelling by train anywhere then this would have most definitely been a safe bet and the one to take.
Lisa Jewell keeps up with the times and the themes are very current. I looked at it and at 400 pages, which is about the average for Lisa Jewell, and as I plan my books for the week, I estimated with my commitments of being a mum, my health and a full-time student, this would currently be a four day read for me give or take.
I found this book to be quite gripping and I read it in three days. This is another book that had I had the opportunity, I would and could have quite easily read it in one day.
I enjoyed this, but it didn’t stand out for me like previous titles that I always remember. For myself I would call this an easy read book. I would say it’s a great one to have about your person if travelling or waiting around.
The cover is smooth with the name and title or the book in capitals and slightly embossed. The cover also has one of those covers that is like card but is shorter then the book itself, the book then has a card as the inside cover with text going down the side. I’m not sure how I feel about books like this - I’m neither a fan, nor perturbed.
Having spent lots of my school holidays with family from the London area I always like a book set in London and places I know and can picture. I always like covers with London scenes. On the cover there is also two women, with one walking away and a foreboding sky.
The pages are quite full on with text, there is some but not much blank space and reasonable chapter breaks. I personally wouldn’t recommend as a first Lisa Jewell read as I just don’t feel it has the edge like some of the previous titles.
The spine of None Of This Is True is a lovely cerise pink. I do like how all the recent and re-released Lisa Jewell titles have these easy recognisable uniform spines in bright solid colours and large title and authors name.
