My Fabulous Friday Five
Five favourite things of the week that have provoked thought, inspiration and contemplation
Welcome to this week’s round up.
Clothbound Canterbury Tales
First off is the rather beautiful clothbound Canterbury Tales by Penguin Publishing. The cover of this book is designed by the amazing Coralie Bickford-Smith. I am very grateful that Coralie gifted this copy to me along with a very thoughtful dedication.
My dear Papa was looking forward to my English degree course moving on to Chaucer but sadly he passed away on October 30th and only just this week we properly started our study of Chaucer and the Canterbury Tales.
My Papa and his mother, my grandmother, were very fond of Chaucer and I grew up with them reading the Canterbury Tales. I remember my grandmother taking me book shopping in Epsom Waterstones in the late 1990s and treating me to a handful of Wordsworth classics and I still have those books and The Canterbury Tales was one of them. Fond memories I will cherish.
Second we have the very tasty lemon biscuits from the V&A museum. As a Type 1 diabetic and sufferer of food disorders (ARFID), a tin of biscuits lasts me a very long time and the great thing about these are that once opened they keep well thanks to the metal lid. Also they make fantastic and very pretty storage tubs. Currently I have my Novo diabetic needles stored in one. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure regarding diabetic supplies, the needles are like pen tops and are all individually sealed.
Next we have new SOCKS
Who doesn’t love a good pair of socks? I like to be different and any quirky sock design (as long as they are organic cotton and or bamboo) are a winner for me.
Then we have the wonderful Klean Kanteen BEAKERS. Huge KK fans in our home we have various drinks bottles cups and beakers. Highly recommend and I won’t drink out of any other metal cups/beakers/bottles.
This was an impromptu purchase as one point of KK is that they wash well and last like forever so in theory for the planet you shouldn’t really need to buy or replace often, however just look at those colours!
What happened was… the other weekend, our five year old went on her first night away with Rainbows. This night away was quite far away and the Rainbows leader messaged us once we were home to let us know our daughter had left her KK bottle there.
Unfortunately we would need to get it back promptly as this bottle is very important to our little one I did say to the Rainbows leader I have tried to buy a spare unfortunately this one (plain lime green) isn’t made anymore. The Rainbows Leader kindly met up with us to get the bottle back however in the meantime it made me think it’s been a while since I have known what KK currently have.
I went to my favourite stockists only to find they now do the beakers in these beautiful colours! I even use these for drinking wine but mainly water! They are also fab for an ice cold beer in the summer.
Cocoa Loco Organic Milk Chocolate buttons are my end of the week treat - this 100g bag will do me six servings possibly more. I buy from Babipur.
I hope you have had a good week. Mine has been challenging as ever but these items certainly put a smile on my face. Please do share what you are enjoying this week. Love Holly
