Fantastic Friday Five - Anniversary special
Five favourite things of the week that have provoked thought, inspiration and contemplation
Special Friday Five this week as today marks our Wedding Anniversary, so here goes with what I gifted to my best friend on our special day.
Books (of course)
This Family by Kate Sawyer
Waterstones Fiction Book of the Month and Bath Waterstones Book Club choice for April (free to attend, tickets available online for the third Thursday of the month). This book makes an ideal anniversary gift as there is a wedding part to this book. Hear me out, I know a lot of men wouldn’t wish to read that and I am usually put off by any books that contain weddings! However I’ve been informed that this book has a bit of a Kate Atkinson feel about it. My husband is intrigued and as both of us are open to all genres and often like to read the Waterstones Book of the Month. This will be read by both husband and myself ahead of the book club and I’ll get a review up on Substack.
Cuddy by Benjamin Myers
This was an option to be chosen by the Bath Waterstones book club but wasn’t voted as the winning option. My husband and myself are very intrigued by Cuddy as this is a bold and experimental retelling of the story of the hermit St. Cuthbert. This is certainly different and both of us are looking forward to this. I shall report back with a review on Substack
Next up is book related greeting card by The Art File I bought from The British Library gift shop I have seen various designs by this company in Waterstones and various independent bookstores. I have bought others in this range.
I am always on the look out for book related greeting cards sadly there are not that many out there and you do have to search. It had crossed my mind to design some myself! I’m not really that great as an artist or designer though!
I do feel this is an area that someone could have a go at as it feels there is a gap in the market and people are still buying and sending/giving physical cards so that’s not dead yet, like the physical book.
Resin book decorations
I just couldn’t resist these and an excuse to give to hubby, not sure where they will go and feel hanging decorations are not just for Christmas (Yule)!
V&A Butter Caramel & Sea Salt biscuits
As mentioned before super tasty biscuits with a very pretty very useful tub.
